The rich history and legacy of Saint Augustine’s University is now on display at the Raleigh Convention Center until December 2015. There are twelve 10-feet long cases filled with a variety of items and informational material that represents the past, present and future of the University from the St. Agnes Hospital to the historic chapel to the founders and more. The cases are spread throughout the convention center’s main floor, which are attached to conference rooms.

Saint Augustine’s University is the first historically black college or university to be featured at the convention center.

On February 21, Interim President Everett B. Ward hosted a reception for alumni, friends and supporters of the University, faculty, staff and students to join him to be first individuals to view the cases which tells the story of how out a rock quarry, a university was built. During the reception, the attendees had the opportunity to learn more the history of Saint Augustine’s University through actor portrayals performed by the Reader’s Theatre Troupe.

The Raleigh Convention Center is located at 500 South Salisbury Street. The Center’s business hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
