Haven is coming to SAU
Saint Augustine’s University will serve as a pilot participant for Haven (Helping Advocates for Violence Ending Now) for first-year students this fall. Haven is an online educational module designed to recognize the various forms of sexual violence and harassment, how to prevent sexual violence and how to help a friend who has experienced interpersonal violence (harassment, stalking, abusive relationships and sexual assault).
“Haven is an outstanding customizable tool that addresses critical issues of sexual assault, sexual harassment, relationship violence and stalking, said Breona Hayes, the University’s Title IX coordinator. “The online educational course provides our students at Saint Augustine’s University with a positive path forward in the prevention of Title IX infractions.”
The Haven program is also a comprehensive compliance prevention program that will allow the University to utilize data to strengthen programming on campus. The program can be utilized by students, faculty and staff.
Other universities who are also serving as pilot participants include the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina State University, Florida State University, Spelman College, Morehouse, Tennessee State University and the University of South Carolina.
The University plans to implement Haven for the entire student body in fall 2016.
