Falcons help to save lives
The Saint Augustine’s University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) held a Project Life Bone Marrow Drive on February 14 in conjunction with the Shaw-SAU basketball games.
SAAC members along with sport management and PEESAT interns gave out valuable information on how signing up can save a life. Also on hand was David Lindsay, executive director of Project Life. David assisted with the drive and, in all, more than 100 students are now a part of the Bone Marrow registry.
This is the second consecutive year SAU has partnered with Project Life to host a bone marrow drive on campus and spread the word about deleting blood cancer.
Established through the #CIAASupports initiative, the CIAA was the first athletics conference to partner with Project Life and host conference-wide bone marrow drives. Last year, CIAA-SAAC and Project Life volunteers registered a total of 1,640 donors and this year’s goal is to double the number of registrants.
