Saint Augustine’s University’s International Education Week was a week full of endless international opportunities for Saint Augustine’s University to celebrate the benefits of international education.

Throughout the course of the week, presenters and professionals from various organizations and industries such as American University, Aramark, Skyware Global, Nomadigo and First Group America engaged SAU students in dialogue and discussions about study abroad opportunities and international professional opportunities. The week ended with interactive classroom demonstrations of the Confucius classroom.

“International Education Week provided opportunities for our students to begin thinking about the potential for international experiences while still in college and career opportunities following graduation,” said Dr. M. Iyailu Moses, dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Education.

According to Moses, international travel was not on the radar for many of SAU students nor was the thought of international employment.

“The week’s events opened up new vistas of potential activity for them, and some have expressed genuine interest in some type of study abroad or international travel experience in the future,” Moses said.

Dr. Bernard Luscans, chair of the Department of International Studies, expressed how important it was for students to interact with individuals who have international experience. “During the International Education Week, students had an opportunity to discuss with decision makers or fellow students who are actively involved in an international experience.”

International Education Week was a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education. It is an effort to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the United States.
