Falcons Edge 11th-Ranked Winston-Salem State 63-61
An excellent week of practice translated into a stunning victory for Saint Augustine’s University over nationally-ranked Winston-Salem State University on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013.
The Falcons were intense from tip-off and didn’t let up despite falling behind at halftime. By time the final horn sounded, the Falcons came away with a 63-61 win at packed Emery Gymnasium in the CIAA Southern Division opener for both teams. The Falcons snapped the Rams’ 12-game win streak which was their longest in 13 years.
“I had a good feeling all week in practice,” St. Aug Head Coach Lonnie Blow, Jr. said. “I told [our players] that. I felt good before the game, and I think they felt the same way.”
