Head Football Coach Michael Morand traded his whistle for a bell during the Christmas and New Year’s Day holiday break for a good cause.

Morand was a volunteer bell ringer for the Salvation Army of Wake County at the North Hills Shopping Center on December 22, 2014. Standing outside next to the Salvation Army famed red kettle, Morand greeted people as he rang the bell in front of the Regal North Hills Stadium 14 movie theater.

For two hours, Morand supported a good cause while spreading holiday cheer. The donations go to the Salvation Army’s programs to help the less fortunate.

“It is an honor to help in the community in any way shape or form,” Morand said. “The Salvation Army helps numerous people, and I want my football team to be a part of helping the community. I like to lead by example.”

Morand and the football team will be involved in several community service projects in 2015. The Falcons plan to participate in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Memorial March, help build Habitat for Humanity of Wake County houses and visit the Raleigh Boys Club.
