Writer and director of Gideon’s Army will be on campus January 27
Presented by the Department of Film and Interactive Media in conjunction with the Department of Criminal Justice, a screening of the documentary Gideon’s Army is scheduled for Monday, January 27 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Seby Jones Auditorium.
Gideon’s Army follows the personal stories of Travis Williams, Brandy Alexander and June Hardwick, three young public defenders who are part of a small group of idealistic lawyers in the Deep South challenging the assumptions that drive a criminal justice system strained to the breaking point. The film’s writer and director, Dawn Porter, will be in attendance for the screening and will participate in a question-and-answer session. Admission is free of charge and open to the public.
