A new doctor in criminal justice
Warren Dukes, assistant professor of Criminal Justice, recently earned his Ph.D. in Department of Leadership Studies from North Carolina A&T State University. His dissertation was Police Ethnicity and Anomie: Exploring Organizational Adaptation Strategies among African American Police Officers in Relation to a Socially Constructed Double Consciousness.
“I feel empowered to continue my passion for producing scholarly research on organizational cultures and the impacts of organization culture in shaping work experiences of African Americans within the various structures of work organizations,” Dukes said about obtaining his doctorate degree. “I feel a sense of indebtedness to use my study to speak on diversity and inclusion matters specific to the African-American employee in criminal justice agencies. Ultimately, I desire to produce a training module that assists law enforcement executives in the recruitment, retention, and professional mobility of all officers within the agency.”
Duke earned his undergraduate degree in criminal justice from North Carolina Central University and his masters of science degree in criminal justice from Michigan State University.
